According to the Hollywood Reporter the national (US) boxoffice for 2002 will earn beyond $9 billion for the first time in history, putting ticket sales on course for the highest annual tally in 45 years.
Estimates include a staggering 2002 gross of more than $9.4 billion for a normalized 52-week year -- up roughly $1 billion from 2001's record level. If predictions hold, the new box office figures will represent a 13% increase on the $8.41 billion taken in last year.
